Terms

Terms of service

Plain-language terms for using the service. Using the site or creating an account means you agree to them.

Effective 7 September 2026

The service

Book Publishing Tools Online ("the service", "we") provides browser-based tools for preparing and promoting books: manuscript conversion, cover and card design, hosted book pages, and image and video creation, together with a library of licensed stock media.

The beta

The service is currently in an open beta. Every tool is available free of charge during the beta, no payment is taken, and features may change or be withdrawn as we learn from use. We will tell account holders before any pricing takes effect.

Your account

You need an account to save work to the cloud, publish pages, or export files. Keep your password private; you are responsible for activity under your account. One person per account. You must be at least 13 years old.

Your content

Manuscripts, covers, images, videos, and pages you create are yours. You keep all rights in them. So that the service can work, you grant us permission to store the content you save, to process it in order to convert, preview, and export it, and to display and distribute a book page you publish at its public address and in the Library. That permission ends when you delete the content, except for copies in routine backups for a limited time.

You confirm that you have the rights to the content you upload and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights or break the law.

Stock media license

Photos and video clips in the stock library are licensed to you for use in your own book-related work: covers, book pages, business cards, social-media images and videos, advertising for your books, and similar promotional material, in any medium and without expiry. You may edit them and combine them with your own material. You may not resell, redistribute, or sub-license the media on its own, offer it as stock, use it as the primary value of a product (such as prints or merchandise where the image is the product), or use it in a way that is unlawful, defamatory, or that presents identifiable people or places in a misleading or offensive way. Downloads are limited per account per day during the beta.

Published pages and the Library

A published book page is public. We may remove a page or suspend an account that publishes content which is unlawful, infringing, hateful, deceptive, or that is not about a book. We will tell you if we do, unless the law prevents it.

Acceptable use

  • Do not attempt to break, probe, overload, or bypass the service's security or usage limits.
  • Do not scrape the stock library or the Library of book pages.
  • Do not use the service to publish material you do not have the right to publish.

Planned pricing

After the beta, plans are expected to be sold as a yearly license paid in advance, with no royalties and no per-book fees. The price list shows the planned tiers. Prices, features, and refund terms will be confirmed before any charge is made.

Availability and warranty

We work to keep the service available and correct, but it is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, and we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. Export files are generated from your content; you are responsible for checking them before publishing to any store or printer.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, including lost sales or lost data, arising from use of the service. During the free beta our total liability to you is limited to the amount you have paid us, which is nothing; after the beta, to the fees you paid in the twelve months before the claim.

Ending the agreement

You can stop using the service at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. Sections about your content, the stock license, liability, and disputes continue to apply afterwards.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the effective date at the top changes when we do, and we notify account holders of material changes by email. Questions go through the contact page.
