What it does
The EPUB Creator reads your manuscript, builds a proper ebook from it, and shows you the finished pages beside your original text. You adjust the look, check nothing went missing, and export. No formatting service, no waiting, nothing to install.
How it works
- Bring in the manuscript. Import a .docx, .doc, .pages, Markdown, or plain-text file, an existing EPUB, or paste straight from Google Docs.
- Make it look like a book. Pick a style preset (Classic, Modern, Dark, or LitRPG), set the typeface, drop caps, chapter ornaments, and scene breaks, and watch the live preview at phone, Kindle, tablet, and 6×9 print sizes.
- Check and export. The fidelity check counts paragraphs, headings, lists, and images against your original. Then download an EPUB 3 or a print-style PDF.
What survives the import
- Chapters from Word's Heading 1 style (or a Markdown
#heading), with section and subsection headings beneath - Bold, italic, block quotes, epigraphs, and asides
- Images, numbered lists, bulleted lists, and checklists
- Scene breaks from a line of three asterisks or three hyphens
- Your cover image, which becomes both the EPUB cover and the first page
Typography you control
Preview in Bookerly, the Kindle typeface, or Georgia, Palatino, Iowan, and others. Choose Ornate, Simple, or Minimal chapter openings, uppercase titles, drop caps, and three scene-break styles. Text, background, and accent colours apply to the whole book at once. Writing LitRPG? Mark a status window as a data block and it renders as a proper box on Kindle instead of a broken table.
Files the stores accept
Exports are EPUB 3 with valid XHTML, escaped metadata, and a navigation table of contents. Our test suite runs every exported book through EPUBCheck and expects zero errors and zero warnings. The same project also exports a print-style PDF for proofing paperback layouts.
Your manuscript stays with you
Import and conversion run in your browser. Your project is sent to our cloud storage only when you sign in and choose to save it, so you can pick up on another computer.
Questions
Can I paste from Google Docs?
Yes. Copy the manuscript in Google Docs and paste it into the editor. Headings, italics, and lists come along, and the preview builds while you watch.
Will the EPUB pass Amazon KDP?
The export is standards-conformant EPUB 3, which KDP, Apple Books, Kobo, and other stores accept. Every export in our test suite passes EPUBCheck with no errors or warnings.
Can I import an EPUB I already have?
Yes. The importer follows the EPUB's spine, pulls the chapters and images into the manuscript, and lets you restyle and export again.
Is the PDF suitable for a paperback?
It is a print-style PDF with the same chapter styling as the ebook, useful for proofing and for print-on-demand interiors. Check it against your printer's interior requirements (trim size and margins) before uploading.
Does it cost anything?
Not during the beta. Every tool is unlocked, and no card is needed. A free account is only required to save to the cloud or export.
